The Compass story

Know where you stand. Choose where you go.

Compass is built so people stop working for their overdraft and start making money work for them: a healthy cash flow, calm with the bank, and financial goals that come closer — whatever they are.

Israelis living in overdraft on their bank account

≈3 million

Almost one in two Israeli adults.

Based on data from Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics and the Bank of Israel
Our goalTo bring that number down.

Overdraft is not a personal failure.

Most Israelis manage their money through a single bank account — and for millions of them, that account is in overdraft. For many, just opening the bank app is stressful, so they stop looking. And when you stop looking, it gets much harder to get out.

We’re here to change that.

Our goal isn’t to know what you spent your money on. It’s for you to have a healthy cash flow: get out of overdraft, stop chasing the end of the month, and reach the financial goals that matter to you.

It isn’t easy. That’s why we’re here.

Getting out of overdraft is a real challenge. It takes a product that understands the banking system in depth, protects information without compromise, and never leaves you alone with the numbers. That’s exactly why we built the right team.

Who builds Compass

We come from cybersecurity and the cloud.

Our team comes from security research and cloud research at leading cybersecurity startups, and from a FinOps company that helps organizations understand and reduce their cloud costs. That’s where we learned to connect dozens of data sources, analyze each one in depth, and spot what matters before it becomes a problem.

That’s why Compass is built differently.

What we learned about complex systems, we brought to everyone’s money.

Cloud research

Many connections. Each one in depth.

Banks, credit cards, household bills, and services — each provider analyzed according to its own structure, instead of forcing them all into one template.

FinOps

Analysis that doesn’t stop at the total.

Transfers between accounts are recognized, purchases aren’t counted twice, and every amount stays connected to its source.

Security research

Spot what matters before it becomes a problem.

Security research teaches you to notice early signs. We brought the same principle to money: see where the month is heading in time, not when it’s already too late.

Security research

Security is the starting point.

Encrypted connections, permissions for every workspace, read-only bank connections, and the option to connect without saving your login details.

Why Compass?

A compass doesn’t choose your destination.

It helps you understand where you are and which way you’re going. That is the role of Compass: give you a clearer picture, connect the details, and help you choose your own path.

And why 50?

The number of freedom.

In Jewish tradition, fifty is the number at which slaves go free and those who lost their land return to it. It is the number of those who left Egypt and counted day by day until they arrived. We chose it because it tells exactly the story we want to write.

The Jubilee

In the fiftieth year, everyone comes home.

proclaim liberty throughout the land unto all the inhabitants thereof; it shall be a jubilee unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession
Leviticus 25:10

Whoever fell into poverty and had to sell their land received it back. Whoever sold themselves because of poverty went free. The Torah made sure no one stays in the financial pit forever. That is the promise we want to keep: you can get out of overdraft and stand on your own feet again.

Not servants to servants

A free person isn’t meant to be enslaved.

“For unto Me the children of Israel are servants” — and not servants to servants
Babylonian Talmud, Kiddushin 22b, on Leviticus 25:55

Rabban Yochanan ben Zakkai taught that someone who has gone free should not enslave themselves again to another master. We believe the same about money: it should work for you — not you for it, and not for your overdraft.

Counting the Omer

Leaving is only the beginning.

shall ye number fifty days
Leviticus 23:16

Leaving Egypt wasn’t the end of the road. For forty-nine days, the days are counted one by one, and only on the fiftieth — Shavuot — do we arrive at Mount Sinai. It’s the same with us: first you get out of overdraft, then you move forward step by step, until you reach the goal you chose.

Fifty gates of understanding

There is always more to understand.

Fifty gates of understanding were created in the world, and all were given to Moses but one
Babylonian Talmud, Rosh Hashanah 21b

Even Moses did not reach all fifty gates. Understanding is a path, not a finish line — and every gate that opens brings the next step closer. And in gematria, the Hebrew word kol, “all,” equals fifty: the whole picture.

Our blessing to you

and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath
Deuteronomy 28:13

May your account always be in the plus, may every month end calmly, and may all the work of your hands be blessed.
